The Investec Derby: Ladies Day

This year I've been lucky enough to be invited to attend Ladies Day on Friday 2nd June at the Epsom Derby. Whilst I am very much looking forward to the day itself especially as it's something I have never experienced before, I was hit with a wave of panic. What on earth does one wear to Ladies Day? Each year many head to Epsom Downs race course to experience a day of racing, music, glamour and fashion; a great British day out oozing with racing heritage. Dressed to impress, Ladies in the Queen's and Duchess's Stand are invited to enter the style awards so naturally what I plan on wearing is a number one priority.

After heading straight to the Epsom Derby website to thoroughly analyse the dress code, the general impression I got was that it's a very formal affair. Think dresses, heels and fascinators and men in suits and ties. Ladies Day is definitely a dress to impress kind of affair. One things for sure, I definitely cannot wait to soak up the atmosphere on the day in the Queen's stand enclosure. Who knows I may even get lucky on a horse bet or two.

With that said, when I first saw this dress from ChiChi London I knew it would be perfect for the Investec Derby. Firstly, the colour is so me as I am literally obsessed with anything pink right now and the skater style definitely makes it dressier than anything I would usually wear. Whilst the pink dress is definitely the focal point of this outfit, I couldn't help but accessorise with my Valentino rockstud heels and how cute is that bag?! The perfect size for carrying those Ladies Day makeup essentials that I'll need to touch up with on the day. I don't know what it is about small bags but they instantly make an outfit look dressier in my opinion. Plus when in doubt, always go for a black accessory. It definitely is a fail safe option and means you can be a bit bolder with your outfit colour choices. In this case one very pink dress. After all, there's nothing like a pop of colour to get you noticed which I think will hit the nail on the head with the dress to impress Ladies Day dress code.

Whilst I think this dress is perfect for Ladies Day the skater style makes it a good all rounder for any occasion. It's fun, elegant and playful all at the same time and the fuchsia pink really gives it that added WOW factor. Don't you agree? I'm not sure if you can tell from these photos but I'm pretty in love with this dress which is surprising as a skater style is not usually one I opt for in an occasion wear dress.

I definitely need to complete this outfit with a fascinator because this is part of the Ladies Day dress code requirements but as you can imagine I don't tend to have these lying around the house so I need to definitely go on the hunt for one that will compliment this dress perfectly. Whilst I'm generally not clued up when it comes to wearing or choosing fascinators I think that this will really make the dress completely appropriate for the Ladies Day derby. That teamed with a bouncy blow dry lets just pray for no showers. If the recent heat wave is anything to go by a sunny day will mark the perfect start to my summer at the derby.

Are any of you planning on attending Ladies Day this June at the Epsom Derby? If so what do you plan on wearing? Whilst you can probably tell that I'm pretty pleased with this pink dress I'd love to know your thoughts on this Ladies Day outfit and what any of you are planning on wearing to impress on the day.

With the glamour and sophistication that Ladies Day generally has to offer, it goes without saying that I cannot wait to wear this ChiChi London dress. With an obvious emphasis on fashion I'm certainly itching to experience the remarkably British event that is Ladies Day, not to mention the racing itself. Post racing there is also a DJ set from Mark Wright and after all there's nothing like some good music to get everyone in the spirit for summer. Be sure to keep an eye out on my Instagram as I will be sharing my day at the Epsom Derby including my full outfit and the day itself. Happy Ladies Day in advance!
