Gingham is a print that is absolutely everywhere this season. From skirts to trench coats, there are endless ways to add the check print to your wardrobe this season. After several seasons attending LFW, I'd like to say I've somewhat mastered how to do it properly. Ultimately it boils down to comfort because more often than not it's long days on your feet running between shows and events. I wanted to keep sore feet and blisters to a minimum whilst still feeling happy with my outfit. This over the years attending fashion week as a blogger I've learnt is key. It's no fun hobbling to your next show crying in pain, wishing you had opted for a more sensible shoe choice.
I'll be the first to hold my hands up and say that I gravitate towards a jeans and jumper combo because it really epitomises comfort. Add a statement coat and accessory and it completely transforms your outfit into something fashion week worthy. This gingham trench coat was the perfect layering piece and the print really makes it stand out. I could have just opted for a black shoe but these red boots had my name all over them and if you've learn't anything about me it's that I love a good shoe. Whilst many of you may shy away from wearing gingham, the monochrome colour palette steers it away from being less scary than your typical pop of colour and also means you can pair pretty much any hue your heart may desire. I particularly like red, cobalt blue, dusky pink or even a bright yellow for a real contrast. It will also have the added benefit of making the gingham print really pop.
After a few shows today, mainly at Fashion Scout, I refuelled at The Apartment and caught up with some blogger babes and was treated to lunch from The Gourmet Burger Kitchen followed by pick and mix from Candy Kittens and coffee from The Holborn Grind. Anyone knows the way to a girls heart is with food and and yes I did have two helpings of sweet potato fries and maybe a cheeky vanilla milkshake but who's counting calories? Bloated is the new skinny, or that's what I tell myself anyways. After my meal, ironically.
I hope you are all having a lovely weekend and as always I would love to know your thoughts on today's outfit for day two of London Fashion Week. Is gingham for you?
