The Longline Military Coat

I'm still quite surprised that it has taken me this long to add a military style coat to my wardrobe. I have always wanted one but there was always something that put me off actually purchasing one. Now that I've finally invested, I couldn't be happier. I am definitely loving the smarter style and it slots in perfectly to my outerwear collection.

As far as coats go, I would compare a military style as the LBD of the fashion world. I say this because typically it looks smarter and lends to a more formal outerwear option. Thrown over a dress or teamed with your favourite skirt, this coat definitely smartens up most looks but I was keen to change this perception. If you couldn't already tell by this post, I really wanted to dress this military coat down. I'm all about the casual vibes right now.

I by no means class myself as old but one thing I will say is that as I've gotten older, my main priority is staying warm. Gone are the days where my fifteen year old self would go out in a strapless dress and leather jacket in December. Often with no tights might I add. I mean what was I thinking?! No more shivering at bus stops in the freezing cold. I now carry a pair of gloves in my bag...I mean who have I become? With that said, this coat does the job of keeping me warm whilst looking chic and every time I wear it people stop to ask where it's from. This in my eyes is always a sign of a good purchase. Definitely something that deserves a pat on the back.

Dressing this military coat down couldn't be easier. I just teamed it with my favourite navy gazelles and a pair of ripped skinny jeans. It's funny how your style changes and evolves as you get older. Once upon a time, I would only wear trainers to the gym. Now I just can't get enough of them and still plan to add more to my ever growing collection. If you don't own a pair of gazelles I would suggest a cheeky purchase. They are so comfortable and literally go with everything. I had once left a grey pair in an Uber so naturally you could imagine I was distraught. I put off buying a pair for a while but eventually I caved because quite frankly I missed the comfort in my life. These and vans are definitely my go-to trainers for everyday comfort.
