The Hero Partywear Piece

There's nothing that screams Christmas more than a red sequin dress. I mean just look at those sparkles. Call me predictable but surely something so red and glitzy should only be saved for the festive season?! I don't know about you but red isn't a colour I generally tend to wear all year around. There is something about the colour that I just associate with Christmas which often means it doesn't get a look in through the months of January-November. When in doubt I would always opt for an LBD but with red being so striking, it's a colour that shouldn't be saved just for Christmas time.

If you hadn't guessed today's look is more of a party wear piece. As promised, I'll be bringing you party wear in abundance throughout the month of December (apologies in advance if this isn't your thing). In my last post I styled a velvet suit from day-to-night which you can see here, in case you missed it.

When I first saw this dress, I was mesmerised by the two tone sequins. The cami style is one that I have fallen in love with over the past few months and this dress was no exception. I think the looseness of this dress helps to tone it down which is great for me as I tend not to be a huge fan of bodycon at the best of times.

As someone who always feels the cold you could imagine my excitement when layering polo necks under dresses actually became a thing. If you've read my blog for a while now then you'll know that I generally love taking something girly and defeminising it with all the casual vibes. I mean YOLO. Take this sequin dress as a prime example, layered with a black polo neck jumper you could wear this in the day but also be dressy enough for after work drinks or even a night of dancing with your favourite girls. If you're feeling brave and a-ok to bare a bit of extra skin then take the polo neck off altogether. After all, the thin spaghetti straps on this dress makes it exceptionally flattering and there's something quite sexy about baring bare shoulders.

So you've got the dress nailed but what outerwear option do you pair with it? Instinctively, most would probably reach for their classic black coat. Whilst there's nothing wrong with that, I opted for a slight play on texture in the form of this amazing velvet puffer jacket. A pretty unlikely choice for me but I really can't get enough of this jacket right now. Not only does it look and feel amazing but it's one of the warmest I own at the moment too. No more shivering in the line outside your favourite Friday night hangout ladies.

An easy party wear option that will make you feel instantly fab. That's the sequins for you. If you love this dress but are worried it won't suit your body shape then why not try cinching it in at the waist with a skinny belt? Personally, I think this cami style dress flatters pretty much any body shape but you could ditch the polo neck for a more flattering neckline and opt for a pair of black tights instead if this will make you feel a little more comfortable. I would love to know your hero party wear piece or what you plan on wearing for any Christmas parties you have coming up this month. Will you opt for some red sequins or a sparkly number? I would love to know in the comments below.
