Today's blog post centres on my love of the silky cami dress. Emerging as a key trend just before Spring, as seen on Kendall Jenner many influencers begun to follow suit. It's a trend that I totally bought into because after all I love taking something girly and dressing it down. Underwear as outerwear has been a trend that has remained popular for some time now. Take this silky cami dress as a prime example, probably something that may be seen as more bedroom appropriate attire. Layer a band tee underneath or in the case of today's post a roll neck jumper and you have yourself a daytime look and one that I'm totally digging right now. I love the contrasting textures of the silky satin against the knitted roll neck and think that the light grey balances out this striking teal green perfectly.
I have always been a fan of roll neck jumpers. As someone who always feels the cold, these do the job of keeping me warm in the cold winter months. The inner grandma in me has got on her tap shoes and is doing a happy feet dance. Stylish yet practical, naturally I would be sold. The thing I like about this particular style, is not only does it have the classic ribbed detail that is often associated with roll neck jumpers but it has a modern refresh with this frill collar. A feminine touch that in my opinion gives this outfit a different look altogether. It's the little details that can make a big difference to an outfit altogether.
With something so silky and feminine it's great to toughen it up by giving it that much needed edge, especially for a daytime look. I have done so in the form of these studded ankle boots, which went down a treat on my Instagram. I'm sure it has something to do with the fact that they have an uncanny resemblance to the Givenchy pair I've been swooning over for some time now. These have been my go-to boots this autumn/winter as they go with everything and are quite the striking accessory.
So there you have it, an easy way to dress down a silky cami dress for an everyday look. A top styling tip would be to vary the roll necks you pair underneath to create a different look altogether. Take this frill neck one for example I have also been wearing this dress with a more classic roll neck jumper in colours including black, burgundy and camel. Great cost-per-wear ratio and at a bargain of just £20 that's pretty savvy if you ask me. This cami dress also comes in a number of colours including black, silver and burgundy if this teal colour I'm wearing isn't for you.
