I think of midi dresses like marmite. You either love them or you hate them. Whilst I lean more to the former, my main issue with a dress of this kind is that to wear it with confidence it needs to be paired with a heel. At around 5'7/5'8, I wouldn't consider myself short but as this style tends to sit mid calf it's natural to feel as though you need to be elongated ever so slightly. My advice when opting for a midi dress is to find one that has a slit. Personally this is the most flattering and means you can actually see your shape plus get away with wearing it with your favourite flat sandals. It doesn't stop there, team this dress with a pair of high top converse and layer with a plain white tee underneath for an off duty, laid back look. If you are more petite don't let this style of dress put you off. I honestly believe that midi dresses can be worn no matter what your height but if your feeling a little conscious then my advice would be to opt for a heel of some description.
What instantly drew me to this dress was the mix of floral prints. On reflection, it would be the perfect piece for a summer barbecue or wedding you may have coming up. It doesn't stop there because come Autumn I can see myself layering a knitted jumper over the top of this dress worn with a pair of ankle boots. Perfect for when the weather transitions from Autumn into Winter. Not that I'm wishing summer away or anything. I would love to know what you think of this look and whether you a fan of the midi dress.
