When temperatures plummet like they have in the past few days, there is nothing more satisfying than being wrapped up in a warm winter coat. Say hello to the man of my winter wardrobe...this grey, textured over sized beauty. This season is all about coats making a statement of their own. Playful colours and amazing textures, in all shapes and sizes there really is a coat for everyone. When I saw Carine Roitfield rocking the MaxMara Carrara coat at Fashion Week, I knew it was time to invest in a statement coat. Low and behold, Topshop did not fail to disappoint me. Over sized...check. Textured...check. Warm...check. I don't think I need to go on. I am such a wimp when it comes to the cold weather that the latter was definitely music to my ears.
I did promise myself that I was going to be more adventurous with my winter wardrobe and opt for more colour. If London Fashion Week is anything to go by, monochrome certainly is not dead. Not to mention it is often a fail safe colour ensemble suitable for any occasion. Although I am not thrilled about the cold weather, I am excited to explore my winter wardrobe. I already have an autumn checklist of staples I cannot wait to buy. I am thinking chunky knits, shearling and sturdy boots.
What will be your autumn staples to see you through to winter? Will you invest in a mega mannish coat or play it safe with something more feminine this season? I would love to know.
