When it comes to taking my makeup off I am probably one of the laziest people I know. I want a product that is quick and effective, with minimal effort. I know I am asking a lot but when I am tired and want to go to sleep, removing my makeup seems like the most daunting task.
Since starting my blog, I have really enjoyed discovering other blogs, especially beauty related ones. I think it is reviews of different skin care products by other beauty bloggers that has caused me to sit back and review my skincare choices.Until about a year and a half ago, I used to remove my makeup with makeup wipes (I am sorry if I offend any of you). However, I was never fully satisfied, my skin felt oily which is not good news for an oily skin gal like myself. After visiting both the REN and Space N K counters I decided to try Emma Hardie Amazing Face Moringa Cleansing Balm and REN Clarifying Clay Cleanser, despite the hefty price tags. After using these products for a good length of time now, I can say with absolute certainty that my makeup wipe days are truly over. I have included an in depth review of all the products I use in my skincare routine.
Emma Hardie Amazing Face Moringa Cleansing Balm
Admittedly, a bit of a mouthful but this cleansing balm is truly amazing. You only need the smallest amount which when added with a few drops of water melts your makeup away, including waterproof mascara! I use a flannel with this cleanser to remove my makeup and you just see everything vanish before your eyes. This visibly reduces my pores and leaves my skin feeling super smooth. You can buy this from Feel Unique, it is quite pricey but 100% worth every penny and I still have a lot left.
REN ClearCalm Clarifying Clay Cleanser
Mr REN is clearly a fan of the alliteration, but hats off to him as this is a great cleanser. This is exactly what it says on the packaging, a clay cleanser. It is slightly thicker than your average cleanser, and again you don't need a lot, but you feel it really absorbing into your skin and working its magic. For a mini facial, I leave this to soak into my skin for about 5 minutes in the hope that any makeup Emma Hardie missed, REN will tackle. I also use this in the morning when I wake up to prepare my face for the day. This cleanser is £18 but again you don't need a lot, I have been using it since January and still have about 3/4 left. I will definitely be repurchasing this when it runs out.
La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo
I had a bit of a love hate relationship with this product at first. It broke me out really badly, in places where I don't even get spots, like my cheeks. It did however leave me with super soft, calmer skin when I woke up in the morning (see, love-hate!). I was going to give up on this product completely but it has definitely started to work its magic and I have noticed visible differences, especially in the texture of my skin. I use this morning and night, instead of a moisturiser and I like that it has a light consistency that absorbs quickly into my skin. I also managed to pick up two tubes for £15 on Boots.com which is an absolute bargain considering one tube is £13. Happy Days!
No. 7 Cleansing Brush
This is basically a dupe of the Clarisonic cleansing system, at a mere £15 it is definitely a fraction of the price. I use the first setting on this cleansing brush as I find the second far too harsh for my skin. I also use it with my REN Clay Cleanser about 3-4 times a week and it really has made a difference to my skin. It removes any dead skin and gets rid of any excess makeup leaving my skin feeling smooth, clean and refreshed. I definitely wouldn't recommend using this everyday though. It is definitely more of an every other day skin care routine. Overall, a great find.
I hope you enjoyed my daily skincare review, do any of you incorporate these into your skincare routine?
